We have lots of exciting plans for the upcoming breeding season and if all goes well, should have some lovely foals for sale late next year.
To further enhance our line we have recently imported semen from Spain for the breathtaking Calificado stallion, Kefren, owned by Los Arcos. From their website:
"Kefren stands out for his unrivalled qualities for dressage, but at the same time maintaining the traditional characteristics of a PRE stallion. Kefren is a dark bay horse and has a great presence and a well built structure. He has a magnificent character and an extraordinary will to work. Kefren has also repeatedly proven his ability to transmit his genetic values onto his foals.
In 2004 Kefren participated in the Spanish exam for PRE stallions, obtaining the title of Qualified PRE stallion and achieving a great grade. In that same year, Kefren successfully participated in a Level A Spanish National Competition in Valencia, securing the top position. In 2005 he participated in a similar competition in Segovia, again achieving the number 1 position with a qualification of 68%.... He was then retired from competitions to focus entirely on reproduction activities."
We don't plan to use this semen until September 2011.
We are fortunate to have a small amount of Clasico MAC straws remaining and will be using them with our beautiful imported mare, Altair VIII, in early October. If we are lucky enough to achieve a pregnancy and the resulting foal is a colt, he will be offered for sale. Expressions of interested are invited.
Estimada B, our young mare by the imported stallion Mas Martillo, will be heading down to the Western district to be covered by the imported pure Carthusian stallion Poseido LXXII (http://www.aquilapre.com.au/). The resulting foal will be over 80% Carthusian.
Anchorbar Forcilla is due to foal to Hispano in mid-November. We plan to send her to Aquila too to be covered by a young son of Poseido's.
Beautiful old Darnela has just been covered by our young colt, Valeroso B. He is young to be covering a mare, but this will be the last breeding season for Darnela so we couldn't wait any longer and dearly want this cross. Val was very enthusiastic but well mannered, and we now have to wait a few weeks to see if we have been successful in gaining a pregnancy. The resulting foal would be a double cross to Dacio III.
Inquiries about our young stock are most welcome and may be emailed to bramerespanishhorses@yahoo.com or phone (03) 5425 3268.
